This Saturday, July 27th: “Individual Mythologies” at Youme Haus

This Saturday, July 27th from 4 p.m. to midnight, VCS alumnae Sofia Klapischak, Amy Kolenut, and Brooke Tomiello will present “Individual Mythologies,” the second exhibition in the series Youme Haus. Here’s their mission statement, followed by the show announcement:

Brooke Tomiello has started a gallery exhibition series called Youme Haus with two collaborators, Sofia Klapischak and Amy Kolenut. In a world where opportunities are limited in galleries, and artists depend on networks, we have challenged this process with our own independent Brooklyn “gallery” in our apartment.

This alternative way of showing artwork is a rare and unique opportunity for artists, friends, peers, family, and anyone else to come together – making a true melting pot!  We’re creating a space unaffected by the art market; where people can come together to think about, converse about and meet over art!

Individual mythologies: “A question of attitude, not style”

Youme Haus is pleased to present “Individual Mythologies,” an exhibition spanning a plethora of styles and material showcasing the particular ‘systems’ of each artist. With “Individual Mythologies,” Youme Haus is striving to foster each artist’s own fascinations. Inspired by the famous curator, Herald Szeeman, the exhibition is based off his aim to “postulate an art history of intense intentions that can take diverse shapes.”[1] We invite the viewer to take time with each artist’s work to decipher and cultivate an understanding of the artist’s possible intentions.

Artists who will be showing are:
